My Favorite Number is 20247

Months of waiting. Months of waiting. And months of... waiting. Waiting for lawyers, waiting for papers, waiting for delivery, waiting for judges, waiting for grandmothers, waiting for indecision. Waiting. And we have finally reached the beginning. Fourteen months after we begun the process we were given a new favorite number, 20247. That is the number that identifies our daughter to the Haitian government. We are so proud of our little number!

Despite the government deciding A) that they did not need to see grandma but B) they would not take anymore adoption cases until August, they took Leika's file anyway! This means the process has begun on Haiti's side and there is a timeline to follow - it is still about a year - but it is a timeline.

This means not only that the process can move ahead, but that Leika knows about us as well! We are excited that she knows we are her family and we are excitedly waiting for her.

Thank you for your prayers over our long frustrating wait. Please keep on praying as it is still a long road ahead and, as we have learned, anything is possible on this journey.
