"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..."

Homestudy paperwork is done!

Whew! Who knew so much paperwork went into an adoption! We're celebrating because ALL of our homestudy paperwork is done, and nearly all of our dossier paperwork too!

What exactly is a homestudy? It is a 5-8 page report on our family done by a Licensed Adoption Social Worker. In order for her to complete it, we had to complete 50+ pages of materials. Such things as letters from our doctors saying we're healthy; FBI, State Patrol, and child abuse clearances; financial records; letters of reference; each of us wrote 12 page autobiographies; 10 credits of adoption coursework; and the list goes on!

Now we wait for the social worker to visit our home, then meet with each of us individually, and then write her report. Once she is done we can add it to our dossier documents and proceed with the next step. (I'll explain what a dossier is in another post.)
