"Religion that God our Father accepts as pure and faultless is this: to look after orphans and widows in their distress..."

LOST!

For nearly five months we have been waiting for our papers to get into the hands of the IBESR (the Haitian government). It has been frustrating as we have seen nothing happen other then the date in which we get to bring Leika home extend further out.

This last week we found out what the hold up is. Leika's aunt, the one who dropped her off at GLA and signed over custody to the orphanage, cannot be found. Normally that is not a big deal but IBESR has decided they want to talk to her before they will accept a dossier to adopt out Leika.

The many steps within the Haitian government consist of double checking the signature of the previous signer for each dossier submitted for each adoption. We don't know exactly why they want to find the aunt, but our guess is to verify the legal document she has already signed and submitted to release Leika.

She could be anywhere! It has been nearly two years since she was dropped off by her aunt and the IBESR says, "show me the aunt". This is heartbreaking for all of us, even the boys are discouraged by this delay.

Our prayer is simply that the Aunt will be found. That she will surface and that adoption will proceed.
